Manufacturing of optics

The optics manufacturing know-how of our region is world class.

Photonics Center provides companies with the know-how for micro and nanostructure manufacturing and applications, 3D printed macroscopic optics, or diamond machined precision optics, and plastic injection molding optics. Various manufacturing methods and their combination enable the creation of new features. Photonic Center has versatile equipment and facilities for the manufacturing of optics.

The Institute of Photonics offers services of micrometer and nanometer scale features. Key methods include electron beam lithography, thin film deposition, etching and replication. Other services include directly printed optical elements. For more information, visit the service producer, UEF Institute of Photonics’ website.

Piloting of photonics-based products and assemblies with Key Enabling Technologies (high speed machining and ultra-precision machining). Manufacturing and injection molding of optical quality prototype molds.

For more information, visit the service producer, Karelia University of Applied Sciences’ website.

Photonics Center closely cooperates with the optics manufacturers of our region and can help bring the companies together, when necessary.

Designing of optics

Photonics Center offers design-related services and training for companies and institutions. Services include designing and modelling of optical systems, micro-optics, nanophotonics, to name a few. This includes knowledge for commercial optical designing and modelling software. Different modelling approaches include, for example, sequential and non-sequential ray tracing, FMM, and FTDT.

Furthermore, we cooperate with partners to develop new design procedures. For more information, visit the service producer, UEF Institute of Photonics’ website.
