Spectral Imaging and its Applications demo course – 20 April 2022 (online training on 16 April)
Photonics Finland / Photon Hub project organizes ‘Spectral Imaging and its Applications’ demo course. This course is provided in collaboration with the Computational Spectral Imaging Lab of University of Eastern Finland within the PhotonHubPhotonics Innovation Academy initiative.
This training is suitable for everyone who wants to gain and expand their practical knowledge on spectral imaging devices, the data they collect and how that data can be used and analyzed. This training is very much hands-on with three demo sessions. Also there is no previous experience needed for joining.
- Demo 1: Acquiring images with spectral camera
- Demo 2: Spectral image data structure
- Demo 3: Basic operation on spectral data
For the training there are two dates available:
On 16th of February 2022 the training will be held online.
On 20th of April 2022 the training will be held face-to-face in Joensuu.

Webinar: Photonics Starts from Design – 16 May 2022 – Registration by 9 May
PREIN and Photonics Finland present another webinar event to the series “Photonics for X”. When “Photonics for All” introduced optics manufacturing available in Finland, “Photonics start from design” takes us one step backward to the start of any R&D project. This webinar is where the optical design industry meets photonics via researchers and experts, a place where challenges will be addressed and discussed.
The webinar event is co-organized by the Institute of Photonics, UEF; Photonics Center; PREIN flagship; Photonics Finland; and will be hosted by Professor Jyrki Saarinen from PREIN, University of Eastern Finland. There will be great speakers such as Professor Emeritus Folke Stenman from the University of Helsinki, and Optoplus Co.; Professor Pasi Vahimaa from the University of Eastern Finland (UEF); Dr. Oliver Fähnle from the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Science and PanDao; and M.S. Aki Mäyrä from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
The webinar will take place on the International Day of Light for 2022 which will be Monday, May 16th, 2022.
Webinar is free of charge, but needs a registration (remember to register before May 9th!)
